Welcome to the Official Site for the Town of Atikokan 2018 Municipal Election.

This site is written and maintained by the Clerk's Department and is the official website providing municipal election information for Atikokan's eligible candidates and voters. Our site will continue to develop as new information becomes available.
 
 
The next Municipal Election will be held on October 22, 2018.
The next term of Council begins December 1, 2018 and concludes in 2022. Current council consists of seven members, Mayor and 6 Councillors. Nomination period opens May 1, 2018 and closes on Nomination Day at 2:00 pm (local time) on July 27, 2018. Acclamations will be declared after 4:00 p.m. on Monday, July 30, 2018

Process for Filing of Nomination - 2018 Municipal, School Boards and District Social Services Administration Board Election
 
Advance voting will take place Wednesday, October 10 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, October 13 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Municipal Office
120 Marks Street. 

 

Attention Voters!
 
Are you on the Voters List for the 2018 Municipal Election on Monday, October 22, 2018? 
 
Are you new to town, have 
you moved locations within town, has your personal status changed since the last election 4 years ago, or would you like to ensure that your name is on the voters’ list to save time on
Election Day?
 
If so, the Preliminary List of Electors indicating the names, school support, qualifying address and other particulars of those persons entitled to vote at the Municipal Election is available at the Municipal Office,
120 Marks Street during regular office hours (8:30 am – 4:30 pm) starting on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 – October 22, 2018.
 
All electors are hereby called upon to examine the Voters’ List to correct any errors or omissions. Proof of identification is required to be added to the Voters’ List. 
The last day for making any additions or corrections to the Voters’ List is Monday, October 22, 2018.

 
Help Wanted - Election Workers
 
Municipal Elections for the Town of Atikokan are scheduled for Monday, October 22 nd, 2018. Election Workers will be required for the positions of Deputy Returning Officers and Poll Clerks. Two advanced polls will take place on October 10th and 13th, 2018. An elections training session will also be scheduled for successful applicants.
 
Persons who are a resident of the Town of Atikokan and are eighteen years of age or older are eligible to apply. Persons with previous experience are encouraged to apply. Interested persons can pick up an Application Form from the Clerk’s Office during normal office hours or available here. Deadline to apply is September 25th, 2018 @ 3:00 pm.
 
You are encouraged to get involved in the upcoming election. Your assistance is vital to the success of the election process.
 

The Town Clerk is appointed the Municipal Returning Officer by statute and is responsible for the administration and management of municipal elections. For that reason, the Clerk's Department is responsible for accepting nominations of candidates running for office, preparing voters' lists, preparing ballots, determining voting period and certification and distribution of election results.
