The Atikokan Police Services Board is committed to working with the OPP to keep the community informed of policing issues and concerns in the Town of Atikokan.

The composition of the Atikokan Police Service Board (Rainy River OPP Detachment Board 2) is as follows:

  • Two members appointed by the Town of Atikokan, who are members of the council of the municipality;
  • Two members appointed by the Town of Atikokan, who are neither members of the council of, nor employees of, the municipality;
  • One member appointed by the Minister (Provincial member)

Police Services Board Meetings are held quarterly in Council Chambers at the Atikokan Municipal Office (120 Marks Street) and are open to the public. To view agendas and minutes please visit the Town’s icompass portal here.

Board Vacancy

The Town of Atikokan is accepting applications from individuals interested in serving on the Atikokan Police Service Board. One appointment will be made for the term of Council ending November 2026.

Candidate qualifications: good communication skills, both written and verbal; ability to pass a comprehensive background check and understanding of the role of a police service board as set out in the Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019; volunteer work in community organizations; previous experience on boards and committees; willing to attend bi-monthly meetings and training as required.

The time commitment involved is roughly 3-4 hours per month. Submit applications by Friday, April 26, 2024 to:
