By-Law Enforcement
& Animal Control
The Town of Atikokan’s by-laws keep our community safe, beautiful and a great place to, live, work and play. The Town of Atikokan has one full-time By-Law Enforcement Officer who, with the assistance of the OPP, enforce the Town’s by-laws.
Make a Complaint
Please contact the By-Law Enforcement Officer at (807) 597-1234. Complaints are also accepted in the form of a Citizen Request. All complaints are kept confidential, however we do not accept anonymous complaints.
Animal Control
The By-Law Enforcement Department is also responsible for the licensing and control of domestic animals within the boundaries of the Town of Atikokan. For inquiries relating to wildlife, please contact the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources.
Pet Licencing
Every owner of a dog or cat must purchase a tag on or before February 1st of each year, or within 8 weeks of the time they become the owner of a new dog or cat. Pets that are microchipped recieve one lifetime tag for free upon registering the animal, if they provide the microchip number to Town staff.
When registering your dog or cat for the first time, please bring a copy of a certificate of spay/neuter from a vetrinarian and their microchip certificate, if applicable.
